Robert David "Bob" Simon age 73 who was an American television
correspondent for CBS News. During his career, he covered crises, war, and unrest in sixty- seven countries.. He was killed in car crash in New York City on Wednesday evening.
Simon was travelling in a livery cab that sideswiped a Mercedes-Benz that had come to a stop at a red light on 12th Avenue near West 30th Street around 6:45pm, and then slammed into the median.
The CBS reporter, 73, was unconscious with head and torso injuries when he was rushed to St.Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in the city where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 44-year-old man, suffered two broken legs and a broken arm and was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he is in stable condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the police...
