English football club Chelsea are ready to let go of the Nigerian midfielder Mikel, as they target the Zenit midfielder, Alex Witsel as his replacement..
Chelsea manager Mourinho though has always maintained he wants to keep his squad together, but is looking to let Mikel go to make space for Belgium international Alex Witsel...
Witsel, 26, is eager to leave the Russian club and he is being chased by Italian champions, Juventus. Chelsea have entered the race for the Belgian.
Witsel would be considered a direct replacement for Mikel as a holding midfielder to challenge Nemanja Matic for a starting place.
Chelsea's chances of landing Witsel will be boosted by the fact that the Belgian and Mourinho are represented by the same agent, Jorge Mendes. Not to forget the fact that Chelsea front man, Hazard is teammates with the midfielder in the international scene.
Witsel cost Zenit €40 million when he signed from Benfica in 2012 but he wants a new challenge after winning the Russian title last season under Andre Villas-Boas.
